Save Ampofo Agyei songs

Yet again another musical legend has been ostracized from the face of the earth. Mr. Akwasi Ampofo Agyei was a true legend, claiming his astuteness with thought-provoking, physological and folklore songs that went down well with Ghanaians. He was a folk hero whose legend will still persist in his absence.

It’s somehow heartbreaking that he met his demise at 57,which I deem short for a person who has contributed immensely to the Ghanaian music industry, producing over 30 albums and discovering the likes of Amakye Dede, K. K. Kabobo, Ali Baba and a host of others during his longevity.

It is sad that in Ghana, when an artiste dies, his music also dies with him and it has become a phenomenon that after the death, his/her works or music is showcased for some days and then fades into oblivion.

The situation is different in other countries and one person that comes to mind is the American hip, hop mogul,Tupac Shakur, who has produced more songs posthumously than he was alive and he’s rated among the richest artistes in the world.

Infact, he’s got over two thousand unedited tracks yet to be released. My point of contention is simply; Mr.AAA is said to have produced songs which are yet to be
released until his demise.

Thanks to PSI Company ,Terry Bonchaka lives on, because they’ve produced and
released some of the forty tracks of Terry. Proceeds from the album, I guess went to the family and the recording company as well.

I only pray that another recording company salvage the unreleased songs of
Mr. Ampofo Agyei.

He was indeed a legend and we all, including the producers, presenters and DJ’s should do well to invigorate his works and not kill it like we’ve done to the likes of Joe Mensah, Obibini Takyi and Tommy Wiredu. Rest in peace.
